Crocheting

(Some of you are saying WTF is she talking about crocheting…. because it relaxes me and helps keep my hands from turning into claws. lol)

My Mother used to do mile a minute afghans so not long ago I thought I’d try and find a pattern for one online. Ye gods, whoever wrote the instructions might as well have been writing in a foreign language. Couldn’t make heads or tails of it and gave up. Richard,
sweetheart that he is, said to blow whatever I want on yarn and crocheting since I can’t do cross stitch because of my eyes.

Bad mistake. I made a run to a craft store, Hobby Lobby, and thought I’d died and gone to yarn heaven. Bought @cough@ some @cough@ yarn and while I was there drooling all over everything I found a pattern for MAM afghans. I bought it and tried it and when you see how to do it it makes a bit more sense than simple text instructions.

Mile A Minute? More like Mile A Year. The one I’m working on now the panels are sooo long that I’m thinking of making them shorter. I’m planning on giving it to my Aunt for her birthday. Of course starting over means ripping one whole panel out but I think I’d be happier if I could actually FINISH it before her birthday.

Next week is my birthday (43… good lord) and I’ll be hitting thriftbooks.com for used books and the hobby store again for yarn for my present.

I may need a UHaul for the yarn… just kidding Richard… maybe….

From the Washington Times:

A newly released inspector general report backs eyewitness accounts of suspicious behavior by 13 Middle Eastern men on a Northwest Airlines flight in 2004 and reveals several missteps by government officials, including failure to file an incident report until a month after the matter became public.

Well, well, well… looks like Annie Jacobsen isn’t a racist as some thought.

If the government keeps screwing around for fear of hurting someone’s feelings (if the truth be told it’s more a fear of legal action) they’re going to get people killed.

“The Sims” to move from PC screen to silver screen

I have played both versions of the game, Sims 1 and now Sims 2, and I can’t believe anyone would be stupid enough to believe they can translate the game to the big screen. We’re talking about a game where the player tells the Sim when to go to the bathroom, when to cook, to eat, to shower, to sleep, and when to have sex. I will admit that there are some hollywood actors and actresses that I wouldn’t mind seeing stranded in a pool without a ladder or built into a small room without a door or window.

Most players don’t play the game as you’re supposed to play it. Most of us love to build (I built a neighborhood of Frank Lloyd Wright homes) , decorate, or create more addons to the game. It’s not realistic. Unless you hack the game you don’t see nude sims… the naughty bits are blurred out… which might be a good thing in a hollywood movie. lol

I think some hollywood dumbass saw all of the movies people are making with Sims 2 and got the bright idea of making a real movie out of it. Then again they most likely saw the sales numbers of the game and thought they’d have a willing group of gamers who would see their movie.

I have blown around $600 or more on this freakin game and I wouldn’t go see a movie based on it.

In a funk over the cat using our sofa as a catpan we found a website that offered for $9.99 a recipe
for a pet odor remover. At first I was skeptical and then looked through the nine pages of testimonials. The authors were jumping up and down for joy over how this “recipe” worked. After having tried everything to get the stink out (god only knows how much we’ve shelled out to buy sprays, mixes, and everything else) we decided to spend the money for the recipe.

It works. It actually works. Yeah, youre paying for a recipe (along with 6 pages explaining how to use it for specific problems). But the product only costs about $1.50 to maybe $3.00 to make. IF it works for you then you’ve got a product you can use forever.

I am thrilled that my sofa no longer smells like it’s been dipped in a vat of cat urine. Next we’re going to do a test patch on the carpet and try it on the places they’ve hit because of other animals having been there before.

The recipe is so simple and cheap you’ll roll your eyes when you see it and you’ll probably think it won’t work.

All I can say is that it worked for us. Go to the site and read about it at least. Having had an apartment that smelled like a 200 pound cat as far as we’re concerned it was worth the money.

The website is Stinkypets.com

From the linked website:

“The Americans have broken their promise. They have left us.”
(Long Nguyen, South Vietnamese resistance fighter)

Inspired by the true stories of Vietnamese refugees who fled their land after the fall of Saigon—and those who were forced to stay behind, Journey From The Fall follows one family’s struggle for freedom.

April 30, 1975 marked the end of Vietnam’s two-decade-old civil war and the start of the exodus of hundreds of thousands of refugees. Despite his allegiance to the toppled South Vietnamese government, Long Nguyen (as Long Nguyen) decides to remain in Vietnam. Imprisoned in a Communist re-education camp, he urges his family to make the escape by boat without him. His wife Mai (Diem Lien), son Lai (Nguyen Thai Nguyen) and mother Ba Noi (Kieu Chinh) then embark on the arduous ocean voyage in the hope of reaching the U.S. and freedom.

Back in Vietnam, Long suffers years of solitary confinement and hard labor, and finally despairs that his family has perished. But news of their successful resettlement in America inspires him to make one last desperate attempt to join them.

You can view the trailer at the Journey From The Fall website

So far she’s winning the battle. Beaudreaux has always been a pain in the ass. She’s a grey tabby bi-color (white) and I have no idea how old she is. She’s not a spring chicken because during the winter she moves like I do… we walk around like little old women. I think she has arthritis in her hips. She can be a sweet cat but she has one incredibly irritating flaw.

If the catpan is not up to her standards (and believe me she has incredibly high standards considering her roomy Thibideaux is a slob) she pisses in a corner, right in front of the patio door, on our bed if given the chance, and worst of all on our sofa. When she does it I seriously consider two options. Giving her away or putting her to sleep. Now don’t get nasty. I do care about her and she is the one that has taking a liking to the kid. (Thibby and he have a love/hate relationship. lol) Honestly the fact that she and the kid like one another is the only thing saving her from the two final options at this point in our nearly 10 year relationship.

She pissed on the sofa again. I hate that. You can’t get rid of the damned smell. It really sucks to stretch out on the sofa for a nap and wake up smelling like you’ve been dipped in a vat of cat urine. Ye gods. We have refrained from buying a new sofa because of her little “problem”. After trying to clean it up I got fed up and started searching online for something to get rid of the odor. I was just about to place an order for some supposedly wonderful product after talking to Richard earlier on the phone. He called me back and told me to check out another url. I did and found 9 pages of testimonials. Most of them from people who had decided to rip up their carpet and replace it before they tried the product.

It’s $10.00 so I figure what the hell. We’ve spent a ton on everything else we might as well try this.

IF it works I will definately be talking about it here for the other poor bastards who live in cat odor hell.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. –
Staff members of an elementary school staged a fictitious gun attack on students during a class trip, telling them it was not a drill as the children cried and hid under tables.

Link

I don’t care what they were doing or why every adult involved should be fired and never allowed to teach again.

What did the principal say about it?

Principal Catherine Stephens declined to say whether the staff members involved would face disciplinary action, but said the situation “involved poor judgment.”

Poor judgement my ass… those kids were victims of psychological torture.

To hell with being fired… they should get jail time for this stupid stunt.

Then they should be banned from teaching.

Stupid Truther

Cleaning out comments today and noticed another truther had posted a comment. A comment posted on a post telling them how much I detest their bullshit.

k lay mrskarlalay@yahoo.com (probably NOT a real email addy, they never give a real one) had this to say:

You just bought the original conspiracy story, hook line and sinker. Remove the commentary from the mainstream media’s coverage,
the media fed you the offical story over and over and over. We suffered a horrific attack on the american people, but the wrong
culprit was fingered. If you reexamine the events of the day, stripped of the ready made story then the tale of terrorism is more
horrific than we imagined. your government lied to you, and you bought it.

I doubt you’ve done as much research as I have about what happened that day.

I didn’t watch a video or read a website and run out and start spouting bullshit as the truth.

Unlike you I believe my own eyes. I saw what happened that day.

You people have taken the truth and twisted it into a lie to suit your need to feel special or, worse, for political purposes.

In conclusion the only thing k lay has done is posted a comment that has been deleted and been banned from this blog.

It must be difficult to live when you’re too stupid to draw breath and are unable to stand due to the lack of a spine.

Because in the end all of this truther bullshit is based on your incredible fear of the real truth of what happened that day.

You’re all cowards.

I’m beginning to feel mold creep over my body it’s so damned wet outside. Between the rain that seems to be continuous and the damned frogs tuning up all day long… they don’t just sound off at night anymore… I’m going bonkers. So I’m posting a couple of links
to articles I read today that have to do with climate/weather and politics.

First the environmentalists:

Power plan dooms world’s poor

Gotta keep the poor people down so we can save the rock we live on. This is one attitude of the environmentalists that has bothered me a great deal. They care more about the planet than they do the people who live upon it.

Next the Governor of Kansas who evidently doesn’t know the people she governs. The people of Kansas have dealt with living in tornado alley all their lives. They are very self-reliant. For Sebelius to play politics with what happened there is reprehensible. But she’s a Democrat so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. The number one priority of all Democrats is politics first. Have to get that slap in at Bush and the Republicans. Have to wave the bloody shirt with the name Katrina emblazoned upon it.

Hopefully the residents of Kansas will recall what she said in a time of tragedy and allow her to seek employment elsewhere after the next election.

The fine people of Kansas will survive this and will do so by putting into action the self-reliance and hard work they’re known for.

Schedule Blahs

The kid and I seem to have picked up a bug. He’s asleep and I’ve been feeling like I’ve got the beginning of a cold. I think we’ll take a night or two off the 12-8 schedule and go ahead and go to bed tonight. (I think the kid is missing daylight too. lol)

Give us a day or two to feel better then we’ll try again. We have to. I get more done at night than I do during the day. I’ve thrown away a ton of crap and really made a dent. I want to finish the rest of it. lol
