I was reading this article about him and two paragraphs made me decide he should be President.
While he has been critical of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s response to Katrina’s devastation of New Orleans, he warns against depending on the federal government after natural disasters. He was dismayed to see federal agencies handing out water and ice in South Florida after Hurricane Wilma hit in October 2005, when stores were open and tap water was usable.
“You don’t want the federal government to be your first-responders,” he said. “The government can’t do everything for people and it shouldn’t, or else you create a culture of dependence.”
*Emphasis mine
Yes! I also believe that instead of worrying about having nice carpets and appliances home buyers/builders need to be more concerned with the safety issues related to a home. I’d take a house with a basement or safe room and live with crappy carpets and shitty appliances. That kick ass fridge ain’t gonna do shit for me if an F5 decides it likes the look of my house.

I just bought a very modest house in Mandeville, LA. North of the lake - safer & sounder than NOLA. You hit the nail on the head on this one.
