Cough up a freakin lung. Picked up some kind of cold just in time for the weather to go to hell. Snow, ice, the usual winter shit.
Oh joy.
On the bright side I did get what we needed for the next 4 or 5 days at the store yesterday. So I can sit on my ass and hack and cough without worrying about getting out in the crap. I don’t “do” snow and ice. Bad experience one day a long time ago, when I was in high school, you know back before the dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Black ice. Trans AM. Tore up some poor person’s yard as I roared through it trying to get back on the street. Then 10 minutes later was almost killed by some old geezer in a truck. He missed me by 5 inches. Scared the living shit out of me and scared the old geezer pretty badly too. Thought he was going to have a stroke afterwards. I haven’t driven on snow/ice since.
Richard understands my mental block where winter driving is concerned so he’ll be calling his cab driving buddies the next few days. When I was a kid I loved winter weather. Now it’s just a giant pain in the ass and it makes my joints ache. Anyway if I can manage not to cough up a furball maybe the kid and I will put up the christmas tree tomorrow. He’s getting excited. We’re taking him to the zoo before Christmas so “Santa’s helper” (moi) can raid the gift shops animal replica bins.

Hope you get well soon, if that car is a rear wheel drive toss a few bags of sand in the trunk or a couple 80lb bags of Sakrete, cheap, at Home Depot, it helps the traction tremendously. It’s a trick I’ve used on car rentals for years, last time it was in the Cleveland to Buffalo area.

Hope you get to feel better soon. I think I’m finally at the end of my run with the hacking and coughing and ickies.

Hope you feel better soon! And, while I refuse to share your cold (since I’m sick of being sick), I do share your attitude toward snow and ice. VH just got dispatched to the store to “pick up supplies”… and he’d better bring home chocolate!

I’m contemplating taking the day off tomorrow. The last time it snowed in OKC some SOB in a pick-up truck cut me off trying to get onto I-40. I let off the gas and spun into a rail. Destroyed my Rodeo. Staying at home, drinking hot cocoa and playing Gears of War sounds like a lot more fun than driving the 26 miles to my job.

Anon: Thanks for the suggestion but no thanks. lol I’m a snow/ice phobe.
Sara: Glad you’re feeling better.
VK: I hope VH wasn’t remiss in his duties. Chocolate is a major emergency winter supply.
DB: It will be Sims 2 and hot shredded italian beef sandwiches here. I wish DH had the day off. That wind sounds awful. I can’t imagine what it feels like. ^shiver^
