Honoring Richard K. Fraser
by Techievampire on Sep.10, 2006, under 911

Richard Fraser, 32, was a supervisor for Aon, with an office on the 92nd floor of Tower Two, WTC. He’d recently transferred to Aon from another company to get better medical benefits for his son Aidan who has neuro-fibromatosis.
Richard supervised more than 20 employees. Co-workers said they had last seen him making sure everyone on his floor had gotten out.
The most moving comment I read while searching for information on Richard was made by his wife Suzanne when she said this on a guestbook dedicated to Richard.”I will love you forever”
Nothing need be added to the most moving of tributes from a wife to her beloved husband.
According to Suzanne, the focus of Richard’s life was his son, Aidan. Richard adored his son. He would come home after work and talk to Aidan about the Giants, play with him, and tickle him. On Saturday, a day Aidan called Daddy’s Day, he’d take him to museums, the Central Park Zoo, and many other places. After Richard’s death Suzanne told Aidan his daddy was an angel. He thought it was cool that his daddy could fly.
Comments by others who knew Richard:
“..I went to Siena College with Rich and he was such a great person! He was always having fun with friends…” –Jeanine
“Rich, you were a great friend, father and husband. You are greatly missed and will never be forgotten.” –John
“It seems like yesterday that we were having lunch and you were happily anticipating the birth of your child. You and the Fraser family are always in my thoughts and prayers.” –Aileen
“Its been two years since your death, and not a day goes by that I do not think of you or your family. Thanks for your friendship. As Chip said in a previous message, keep a spot on the volleyball court open for me, I’ll be there eventually.” — Keith
“.. Rich will be forever in my heart. I miss the summers at the Pond House, Richie teaching me how to water ski, making me feel like one of the ‘boys’, when I was one of the few girls on the point… Rich was such a kind, warm-hearted person. He always found the good in everyone, and never let anyone feel left out or alone..” –Patti Ann
“..I consider Rich one of those lucky individuals I got to know at an important time in my life…out at the point…on the boats…playing beach volleyball…Working at Claudios…raiding the girls at the barn…those times make me laugh such that the sorrow comes a little less..” –Chris
“..I have fond memories of Rich - he loved to laugh. I mostly remember his workboots and long dress coat that he wore all of the time…”
–Pete
“I had the pleasure of working with Rich for the short period of time he was with Aon. He was an absolute pleasure to work with.
I will miss talking to him.” –Don
“Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you Richie. We’ll see you up in Heaven. Keep the Volleyball courts open for us. I’ll bring the Bud!!” –Chip
“I worked with Rich at Marsh. He was the best - I was very disappointed when he left Marsh to go to Aon, although I completely understood. I knew Marsh would never be the same without Rich’s laugh. Rich and I were on the same team, and sat close to each other - whenever I had a question or problem I knew I could always go to Rich and he would help me out. Every time I walk past his old office I can hear him answering the phone “Rich Fraser”. Whenever I need to smile I will think of Rich telling one of his silly stories. He is missed but always remembered.” –Linda
“..I sat next to Rich at Marsh before leaving about a year ago. He was one of the most knowledgeable and intelligent people I had ever worked with and he went out of his way to help me nearly every day. He also had a witty cynicism that cracked me up regularly…”
–Christina
“I am so sorry to hear about Rich. He was such a wonderful person and friend. He will be greatly missed by so many people that he touched.” –Justine
The measure of a man is what is thought of him by those who knew and loved him. By all accounts Richard Fraser was a remarkable man.
I planned to include an address for a fund that was set up for Aidan. The two addresses I came up with were from two or three years ago and were personal addresses. If anyone knows a current address for the fund please post a comment and I’ll add that information.
Personal note to Aidan: I think it’s cool that your Dad can fly too!

When I received Richard’s information for this project I also received a photo. I was surprised that out of who knows how many photos I’ve seen since 9/11 that I remembered his face. After reading what I was able to find about him I can say this. Richard’s life has touched a housewife in Oklahoma who never met him but will never forget him. It was a privledge to be able to honor Richard in my own small way today. I only hope I lived up to the challenge.

I worked with Rich for a summer, waiting tables. I always remember how he made me feel like part of the “gang” from day 1. He had a great laugh and was a pleasure to be around.
