Poor Kid

Last night the weather was nasty. Things were okay until the kid saw the tornado on television and freaked out. He stood in the middle of the living room, shook and sang twinkle twinkle little star. While I appreciated the impromptu performance I knew he was terrified. My Mother, when we were small and scared, would let us get in the closet so we’d feel better. I told him to take pooh, piglet, and his mammoth puppet and get in our closet if he’d feel better.

He went screaming down the hall without his buddies, bless his little heart. Richard said he’d keep an eye on where things were headed and I could go in the closet with Joshua to try and calm him down. I went in our room and got his spongebob comforter and his pillow and got in the closet with him. He kept saying he was tired and wanted to sleep. I told him to lie down and cover his head if it made him feel better. He wanted me to sing to him and we sang his favorite songs over and over. I reassured him that it would be okay and he slowly calmed down. Richard… hmm… got a little tense and I tried to keep him calm too.

Oddly enough it was the person who was on medication for heart palpitations because of weather anxiety who stayed calm. lol

I did find out that I need to clean even more crap out of that closet. With a wound up 6 year old, pooh, piglet, manny the mammoth puppet, and ellie the elephant puppet in the closet there was barely room for his Mother or his Father. lol

I think I’ll take it easy on the kid today he had such a rough night.
