We live down the street from a small grocery store. We’ve gone to this store since we moved here. It’s changed hands at least once since we’ve been here. It’s in this little strip mall that only has one other store and a post office. There used to be some kind of store that engraved awards and a hot dog place. Damned good hot dogs but it’s gone now. Last week I found out that the grocery store is having a closeout sale. When it’s empty it will close permanently.
I remember being pregnant and being over there when it was a Homeland and having to ask to use their restroom because Junior was using my bladder for a trampoline. It happened more than once. lol You get to know people who work in these places. One of them was a developmentally disabled young woman who always went out of her way to come and talk to Joshua. She gave him a stuffed dinosaur one day. Another checker gave him a mickey mouse. They loved him to pieces. The men who bagged and put the groceries in the car were always very nice. The store was close which was convenient if we needed something I’d forgotten or if we wanted to walk over.
I’m going to miss that store.
