Seems some Canadians are severely pissed…
Not all of the 400 or so who’ve been kidnapped in Iraq escaped so lightly. In Sault Ste. Marie, Jim Loney’s mother calls his rescue “a miracle,” while Loney’s pastor says, “God saved them.”
Sorry, folks, it was soldiers who saved them — the very soldiers scorned by the CPT.
Peacemakers are misguided ingrates
And then there is this:
George Orwell detested tyrants, Communist and fascist alike. But he reserved a special contempt for pacifists.
“Those who ‘abjure’ violence can only do so because others are committing violence on their behalf.”
Orwell saw pacifists as self-superior freeloaders capable of indulging their naive beliefs only because brave men and women were prepared to lay down their lives to defend them.
And Orwell didn’t even know the Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) whose members had to be rescued in Iraq last week by daring British, Canadian, American and Iraqi commandos.
He knew their type, though.

Ilike Orwell too
Thoughts for Today
Pacifism is objectively pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, ‘he that is not with me is against me.’”"
At the end of Fahrenheit 9/11 Michael Moore has a quote by Orwell. One wonders if he ever read much by the man or actually understood Orwell’s Thoughts and Philosophy.
More Orwell:
“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf”
“War is evil, but it is often the lesser evil”
“There are some ideas so wrong that only a very intelligent person could believe in them.”
“The quickest way to end a war is to lose it.”
