You’re not going to believe this one…
Actress SARAH JESSICA PARKER was shocked when her three-year-old son asked to see BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, but feared she would send the wrong message if she refused.
Heaven forbid a Mother might say to her 3 year old that he’s not old enough to watch it. But then again Sarah is more concerned about scarring him for life by not letting him watch it because the movie is about gay sheep herders. Don’t want to give the wrong message don’t ya know.
She goes on…
She explains, ” He said, ‘Mama I’ve been hearing a lot about a movie lately.’ I said, ‘What movie?’ and he said ‘Brokeback Mountain. I’ve heard it’s about two cowboys. I would like to watch it tonight.’
Okay, first off this is a freakin 3 year old. Cowboys are something little boys like. Of course the characters in this movie aren’t really cowboys but that’s besides the point. The kid has no freakin idea what goes on in this movie he just knows it’s got “cowboys” in it. Tell him he’s too young for this movie, that it’s for adults only, and find him a good documentary about real cowboys not those in movies. The kid might learn something.
I feel sorry for the kid. He has an idiot for a Mother.
Telling him no wouldn’t have scarred him for life or given him the wrong impression about gays. I sincerely doubt the conversations at the monkey bars at the park had anything to do with the sexuality in the movie. They kept hearing people talk about COWBOYS and want to see it because of that!
Unfortunately, having this moron for a Mother probably will scar him for life.

I imagine her real reason for not telling him no has nothing to do with not wanting to give him the wrong impression.
I suspect it had more to do with not wanting to have him tell his friends that his mom said no, and then have that get back to other adults, who might think that she’s one of those bigotted conservatives.
Maybe I’m just cynical, though.
