It’s been awhile

I’ve been spending my free time working on finding out how Richard’s ancestors came to be in Ohio. In the process of all of thei genealogy work we bought a cool new scanner/fax/copier/printer. I love it even though it scares the crap outta me when it talks to me.

It’s hard to do a family tree on a family when most of the male children are named after their father, grandfather, or uncle. 6 or 7 names repeated over and over. And I DO mean over and over. Think Thomas, Samuel, David, Daniel, etc to the 3rd, 4th, or 5th power as Richard would call it. It makes my eyes bleed.

Makes looking for my AWOL relatives simple. Damn.

I promised him I’d find them, like I have his other relatives, and straighten out this twisted, broken, tree. I’ll do my best but damn… just damn.

If I see one more “Robert Morrison” while working on Richard’s family tree I’m going to go batshit! They seemed to believe it was freakin’ cool to name 3 or 4 generations of kids the same name! “Mabels” in Scotland are about the same… tons of them. Don’t even get me started on how popular Isabella was in Europe in the early 1800’s. Good lord!

All of that being said… I’m loving doing this.. it really exercises your mind. lol I’ve managed to find Richard’s maternal grandmother’s grave, along with finding his great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

The other night I had a dream and saw lists of names… lol

Swimming Pool

Yeah, right… I’m surprised the creature from the black lagoon hasn’t popped out of there!

Cruddy, tired, feeling. Haven’t exercised until today. The 1 mile was all I could handle today without collapsing on the floor. At least I did something. I haven’t gained too much weight. 1 lb I think. I go thru this early summer thing where I don’t want to eat at all… I think that’s helping. lol

I can’t wait until our order from Amazon gets here. I ordered the John Adams soundtrack. Loved the music in the mini-series. Ordered a bunch of movies too… the pirate movies, tremors for the kid, and some others. Nice to go nuts and do that… of course it’s because our electric company decided we were “such good customers” that they applied the money we paid originally to get service towards this months bill. So we owed nothin this month. The rest will go towards next months. Found money is always the nicest to spend. lol

Tomorrow is mother’s day. I hate mother’s day. I miss my mother the most on that day. Richard asked me what I wanted to do to celebrate. I have no clue. No males butting heads would be nice. lol They’re so much alike they butt heads all the time. lol I’ll figure something out… maybe….

The kid and I were watching a Pirates movie this afternoon and a red bar started scrolling across the screen saying we were under a tornado warning. That got my attention fast. I then noticed the sirens going off outside. I ran the kid into the bedroom which scared the shit out of Richard who was asleep. Told him what was going on and tried to calm the poor kid down. He has a tendency to go batshit when he hears the sirens. Richard doesn’t react too well to these situations either. I put the kid in the closet and we tried to find out what the hell was going on. Turns out that a wall cloud went over us… probably while the kid and I were watching the movie. After an hour of listening to the radio we ambled back into the living room.

I hate those hyper stress situations… I’ve got a headache from straining to hear the radio.

Ugh.. my son

He’s been sick with a cold the past few days. In between bouts of wailing that he’s “dying” he’s started running around playing and being louder. lol

Richard and I were talking and each mentioned having a headache. I suddenly had a horrible thought. The kid had been coughing and sneezing all over our computers and keyboards! We’ve been so fascinated with all of the work on the family trees we’ve been doing we didn’t even think about wiping the keyboards down. Shoot my ass NOW!

ROFLMAO! The kid just announced that he’s “had enough” of sneezing and coughing!

Found some more about about one of my relatives. Even found her headstone online along with her husbands. Across the curve at the top of the headstones they’re etched mother and father. What is odd is that I can’t find anymore information on her. I found an article that tells her death date and where but that’s it. I’ve got to think about this one. Of course the obvious thing to check for is mistakes in spelling etcetera. They were listed on one list by the wrong name. Richard thinks it was a mistake by someone misreading an OCR of the original document.

I worked on the tree for hours yesterday. It’s keeping me awake when I’d love to be able to curl up and sleep. My mattress pad should be here today thank god. Sleeping only 3 or 4 hours a night is awful. After weeks of it it starts to make you a bit psychotic. lol

Holy sh*t!

I was RAISED on Godzilla, King Kong, Mothra and all of that crap. All of the horror films of the freddy/jason/hellraiser genre didn’t make me flinch.

We watched Cloverfield last night having not seen it and I nearly ripped Richard’s arm off at one point! My freakin heart skipped a beat during another scene! I love that movie! lol

Everyone was complaining about the jerky camera movements but that didn’t bother me and I get sick to my stomach watching Deadliest Catch. I have to focus on the boat and ignore the waves. lol

More under the cut… if you haven’t seen it you may not want to read it. Spoilers..
