My Sister and Brother-in-law tried to kill us. They sent us a package for Christmas with cajun seasonings, a chubby little chef (she knows I love things like that), a Santa chef oil bottle, and the most incredibly heinous hot sauce I’ve ever made the mistake of tasting.

Not being very smart Richard and I decided to taste it without finding out more about it online. Richard tasted it and then I tasted it. As I touched my finger to my tongue I was thinking what the hell am I doing… then the next thought was OMG I’m going to die! Thank God I was in the kitchen. Richard’s pain was forgotten in my massive rush to get water. I know that milk is the best thing to stop the agonizing pain but I also knew I’d have to dig through the fridge to find it. I drowned myself with water then made a mad dash to the fridge grabbing the milk bottle, and God forgive me, drinking out of the bottle. Taste buds died a painful death .. I swear I could hear them screaming as they died. The tip of my tongue went numb. For three hours.

After we got past that first massive rush of fire filled agony we looked online and found out what we should have found out before we tasted it. It rates a 600,000 on the Scoville scale that rates the heat of peppers/hot sauces.

We should have known it was that hot with a name like
“The Hottest Fuckin Hot Sauce”

Richard called his sister and talked to his brother-in-law. He eats the hottest fuckin hot sauce on his hamburgers and he has something like Naga Sabi Bomb Hot Sauce which has a 1,000,000 Scoville rating.

All of this has led us to the decision that the next time someone sends us a hot sauce we’ll be hitting the net first to do research!!!

Next projects

After the next two afghans, and after I finish two last minute Christmas gifts for Joshua and Richard (scarves) I will be embarking on the creation of two Doctor Who scarves. That is if I can refresh my memory on knitting. If not my Cousin and his son (they live in England) may get a crocheted version.

If you too would like to recreate the famous scarf here’s a site where you can get all the information you need:
