Hehe if you look at the word it looks like it could mean an irrational fear of Santa Claus but no it means I’m about to go stark raving mad from being stuck in this apartment for days!!! Let’s get one thing straight first.. I don’t “do” ice and snow. I don’t drive on it or in it. I had a very VERY bad expereience when I was younger. I damned near took out an old geezer in a Chevy Luv truck never mind nearly killing myself. We’re talking black ice in a Trans Am which meant I’d barely hit the accelerator and nearly be in Pittsburgh. I also royally screwed up someone’s yard that day.. bad memories… ugh!
I did the whole grocery thing before this crap started and we settled in to see what would happen. Ice. Ice happened. I hate ice. The last bad ice storm I remember was in Tulsa in the early 90s. It sucked. This sucks. Last night Richard went back to work. I wrapped up in a blanket and stood in the doorway and prayed him to the cab. He nearly fell about 5 times. Falling again would really suck since his arms already banged up. Talk about breathing a sigh of relief when the cab took off with him safe inside.
The kid has taken over my computer which is okay since it keeps him occupied. I on the other hand have crocheted and gotten nothing done. I’ve changed my mind repeatedly about something I’m making for myself. It was a hat, then it was a shawl, then it was a scarf. It’s been ripped out I don’t know how many times. It will probably go through many more incarnations before I’m done.
We DID get the tree up. I was pleasantly surprised. When the tree was delivered (I think it was in July) I was concerned that I’d bought a white stack of pipe cleaners instead of a xmas tree. We put it up and after fluffing it for an hour or more it looks pretty good. I did hit one hitch. I bought multi-colored lights. Didn’t like them. Too pastel. So I spent one night awake switching out light bulbs. I ended up with a blister on one finger. Now the lights are red which is good because being the person who chose the decorations I seem to lean towards the color red. I didn’t realize that until we got the tree decorated. I also had to change the tree topper. Our angel was waving around like a drunk after last call. I used some wire edged ribbon I’d bought a year or two ago at Hobby Lobby, red plaid and a red organza, and made a huge bow for the top. It really looks nice. Joshua likes it. He loves red too.
Ugh, anyway I’d better get off this thing in case the electricty flickers again. We’ve been lucky and haven’t lost it completely. I figure that by the end of the week we should be able to get out of this place and pick up the kids last gift that’s sitting at the post office waiting to be picked up. It’s the elephant painting we’ve been waiting for.
If I wasn’t on meds I’d drink… oh well back to my pathetic ball of yarn… I’m going to wear it out…
