Halloween

I don’t really get into halloween that much. The one thing I enjoy this time of year is listening to the 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast. My FIL remembers the broadcast.

It caused a few people to panic a bit.

You can find the broadcast at the Mercury Theatre on the Air website.

When I married Richard part of the deal was his large CD collection including Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds. My favorite’s are “Spirit of Man” and “Thunder Child”. (If you click on the link you can listen to samples at Amazon.) It’s pretty faithful to the book and Richard Burton plays the narrator (journalist).

It’s rock and roll. The only problem with it is that for weeks afterwards I walk around with the sound of the martian war machines going around in my head…

    OOOooooOOOOLLLLAAAAAAAAA
