Halloween

I don’t really get into halloween that much. The one thing I enjoy this time of year is listening to the 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast. My FIL remembers the broadcast.

It caused a few people to panic a bit.

You can find the broadcast at the Mercury Theatre on the Air website.

When I married Richard part of the deal was his large CD collection including Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds. My favorite’s are “Spirit of Man” and “Thunder Child”. (If you click on the link you can listen to samples at Amazon.) It’s pretty faithful to the book and Richard Burton plays the narrator (journalist).

I’m on the downward side of the Xmas afghan extravaganza. One left to finish and I’m done.

Eight afghans since July.

Good lord that’s a lot of yarn.

I’ve got one more that I’m doing this spring… if the good lord’s willin and the creek don’t rise.

After this final xmas afghan I’m making something for myself. I went nuts and spent $60.00 on yarn at an online site (full price the yarn would have been over $200.00.) so I have all kinds of cool yarn’ish goodies to play with.

I may burn the pattern I’ve used for all the xmas afghans… I think I just about have it memorized now. ROFLMAO

Well except for the fact that I seem to still suffer from having not gotten enough sleep while Richard was gone. I think that I managed to sleep 8 hours during the 5 days he was gone. I’m surprised I’m not psychotic. Hopefully that will be back to normal soon. I have a tendency to nod off once in awhile. I’m not a young chicken anymore and can’t handle lack of sleep. lol

Richard enjoyed his trip. They took his Father to the WW2 museum in NO. They treated him like a king while he was there and asked him to record his memories from that time and send them to the museum. Richard’s Sister bought me the cutest little Chef figurine. She’s chubby, she’s holding a loaf of bread and a bowl of pasta and she sits on a shelf. I love it.

Richard bought gumbo file, Zaps potato chips, hot sauces, and some “Slap yo mamma” cajun seasoning. lol

His sister bought Joshua’s birthday and christmas presents. A couple of movies and of course some of his favorite animal figurines. He’s in hog heaven.

The weather had cleared a bit, the sun was out, the kids were outside wandering around.

This is Oklahoma. We’re under a tornado watch until later tonight. You don’t assume crappy weather is over until it’s really over.

Around 4 it suddenly clouded over and started raining cats and dogs.. then it started hailing. Kids were shrieking their heads off as they ran for cover. It hailed for around 15 - 20 minutes. The hail was hitting the metal fence around the pool and it sounded like an odd form of music.

It’s cleared off again but we’ll probably have another replay later.

As I said I probably shouldn’t have laughed but all that high pitched squealing and shrieking was funny.

Shoot me now

I got up at 3:30am yesterday. I went to bed at 6am this morning. I woke up at 9 needing a bathroom break. Went back in to go back to sleep and the phone rang. It was Richard. I noticed the weather looked odd. Come to find out we’re under a thunderstorm warning and a freakin tornado watch.

Damn, now I have to stay awake.

I WON’T be waking up the kid unless one of the goddamned things is bearing down on us. I have to try to sleep when things calm down.

Fuck dark circles… by the time Richard gets home I’m going to have black holes under my eyes!!!

I won’t relax until he reaches NO and calls me.

Now I’ve got to deal with two cats who will miss him and a little boy who doesn’t like storms (which we’ll probably have… drat) and who is going to really miss his Dad.

I’ll admit it won’t be easy for me… we’ve spent one night apart in nine years.

When he called the cab driver to take him to the airport… the guy was parked at the 7-11 at the entrance to the complex waiting for him to call. lol He’s got 3 or 4 regular cab drivers who are really nice. It saves me having to drag a sleepy kid out to the airport. That would have been fun… NOT!

Think I’ll go crochet awhile…

Looks like we’ve got a really good chance of rain Monday. Thank god I thought worried about this in advance. If we don’t go I’ll tell the kid we’ll buy the two other expansion packs for Zoo Tycoon 2 that he wants. That ought to make him happy… one has mastodons in it. We’ll go ahead and do the pizza thing.

The timing on the kid’s birthday and Richard’s trip has been a pain. I’ve just about gotten everything ready for R’s trip. Have to make a trip to the store for a few more things and we’ll be ready.

I’m planning on hibernating while he’s gone and relaxing as much as a Mother of an 8 year old can.

Oi…he’s been hell on wheels lately. I think he’s been practicing for his Father’s trip.

I hope he doesn’t try to drive me nuts….
