I went online hoping to find some pre/after xmas tree sales and found one. I bought a 7ft white christmas tree. The regular price was around 170.00 I got it for around 50.00. We had a small white christmas tree we used when the kid was really young so he couldn’t reach it. Never had a large white one but my Aunt did and I thought it was pretty.

Also found some LED lights I’m going to get later. C6’s or C7’s for that old christmas light feeling. The larger bulbs. I always loved those and the LED lights are cooler and will cost less to use. Going to get those next payday I think. They’re on sale for 11.99 a strand instead of 16.50. I love getting things on sale. lol

Now all I have to do is figure out that christmas tree skirt and buy new garland and we’ll be all set. lol

Xmas Tree Skirt

I’m thinking of taking on another project for Christmas.

A dresden plate xmas tree skirt. Hand quilted and embroidered (if the eyes will allow).

I have made one quilt. It wasn’t a human sized quilt. For a co-worker of my Mother’s who was dying with cancer. My Grandmother made a porcelain doll. I asked if I could contribute something. I made a quilt to wrap it in. Pink and orchid simple 9 patch, hand stitched and quilted with butterflies hand embroidered on various squares. For a first time quilted project it came out very nice. I was told later when she received it that she cried as she held her new “baby”. She died not long after that.

Of course a xmas tree skirt is a larger project but we need one… of course we also need a xmas tree.

Our old one gave up the ghost last christmas and we got rid of it.

Oh well.. if I make the tree skirt maybe it will cause me to get my butt in gear and start thinking about buying a tree…

Latest project

While working on a birthday/housewarming afghan for my Aunt Karen I decided that an afghan for Richard’s four sisters, and his Step Mother might be nice Christmas gift. After having gotten involved in a family group I’ve reconsidered and decided to do one more afghan for Christmas. For my other Aunt, Elaine.

So the afghan count for Christmas now stands at 6.

Thank god they’ll be mile-a-minute afghans or I’ll be crocheting till the end of the world.

I’m also making one for myself out of a gorgeous variegated red-orange-yellow yarn with off-white. Very bright, happy, and colorful for this winter.

Beyond that I’ve got a full load of things to do for the next few days:
Saturday: Renew my drivers license… god only knows how horrible the picture will be… along with a few more errands.
Sunday: Grocery shopping.. I hate grocery shopping. And shampooing the livingroom/dining room/hall carpet. Oh joy!
Monday: Cox is to come out and set us up with digital phone service. Saving around 80.00 a month. I think I’ll give Richard the joy of waiting for them to show up while I sneak over and buy some yarn for some of the afghans.
Tuesday: Might go on a thrift shop junket.. looking for knitting needles, etc. I love a grab bag filled with yarn and other goodies.

Guess I’d better research some colors for the afghans…

Good lord

Having seen the date of my last post it’s time I spent a little time here in the future.

I will. I’ve been crocheting like mad and feel like yakking if only to read my own typing. lol
